[English class] 9/20 underway, to say the least, reserved, even out

 

1. Voting is currently underway.

- underway : 이미 시작된, 진행 중인, having started and in progress; being done or carried out.

 

1. The exams for the elementary students is still underway. 초등학교 시험이 진행 중이다.

2. The remodeling should be underway by July. 7월까지는 진행되어야 한다. 

3. My company is underway on it's hiring process for the all position. 우리 회사는 모든 직책에 채용을 진행 중이다. 

2. I was surprised, to say the least. 

- to say the least : 조금도 과장하지 않고, without making something seem better, worse, more serious, etc. than it really is

 

1. Her outfit was skimpy, to say the least. 그녀의 의상은 조금도 과장 없이 꽉 끼었다. 

2. The lecture was so boring, to say the least. 강의는 아무리 좋게 말해도 너무 지루했다. 

3. I think that was the strangest interview I've ever had, to say the least. 조금도 과장하지 않고, 그건 내가 한 인터뷰 중 가장 이상했어. 

 

3. He was diffident and reserved. 

- reserved : 말을 잘하지 않는, 내성적인 (of a person or their character) slow or unwilling to show feelings or express opinions

 

1. Jen is sort of reserved even if she get's the feeling of being ignored. 젠은 무시당하는 느낌을 받을 때에도 말을 잘 하지 않는 부류이다. 

2. She seems quite reserved with the kind of outfit she is wearing tonight, despite her extroverted attitude. 그녀의 적극적인 태도에도 불구하고, 그녀가 오늘 밤 입은 옷은 그녀를 내성적인 것처럼 보인다.

- introverted : 내향적인

- extroverted : 외향적인

- diffident :자신 없는, 수줍어하는, 내성적인

 

4. I have to even it all out.

- even out : ​안정되다, to become level or steady, usually after varying a lot

                    균등하게 나누다 ​to spread things equally over a period of time or among a number of people

 

1. House prices keep rising and falling but they should eventually even out. 집 가격이 계속 오르락내리락 하지만 결국 안정되어야 한다. 

2. He tried to even out the distribution of work among his employees. 그는 직원들 사이의 업무 분배를 균등하게 하려고 노력했다. 

3. He mowed the lawn to even it out all day long. 그는 하루 종일 잔디를 평평하게 깎았다.
