1. Which basically classifies me as a homeless man.

- classify : 분류하다, to arrange something in groups according to features that they have in common.

                 구분하다 to decide which type or group somebody/something belongs to. 

                                          

 

1. They classify me as a workaholic. 그들은 나를 일벌레로 분류한다. 

2. The items are classified according to the subject. 주제에 따라 아이템들을 분류한다.

3. Could you classify those books into 5 categories? 그 책들을 5가지로 분류해 주실 수 있나요? 

4. I was asked to classify the books returned in the library. 나는 도서관에 반납된 책들을 분류해달라는 요청을 받았다. 

 

 

2. I am sorry but you are beside the point.

- beside the point : 요점에서 벗어나다, irrelevant, not important.

(=out of the agenda, out of the topic)

 

1. Your paper seems beside the point. 당신의 논문을 논점을 벗어난 것 같다. 

2. Mike always asks some questions in class which is beside the point. 마이크는 항상 수업시간에 요점을 벗어난 질문을 한다. 

3. My supervisor is always beside the point. 내 상사는 항상 요점을 벗어난다. 

 

3. I determined it was time to chop it off.

- chop off : ~에서 잘라내다 to remove something by cutting it with a sharp tool. 

 

1. Two of his fingers were chopped off in the accident. 손가락 2개가 사고로 잘렸다.

2. Once upon a time, some prisones head were chopped off. 옛날 옛적에 몇 죄수들은 참수를 당했다. 

3. It's time to chop my hair off. 머리를 자를 시간이야. 

 

 

 

4. Why not give the worst barber in town a whack at it.

- whack : 세게치다, 후려치다, (If you whack someone or something, you hit them hard.)

- take a whack at : ~을 시도해보다 to try to do something

 

1. She took a whack at solving the puzzle. 그녀는 퍼즐 풀기를 시도했다. 

2. Let's have a whack at the new idea. 새로운 아이디어를 시도해 보자.

3. How about giving a whack at it? 그거 시도해보는게 어때?
